Here comes the weekends

Here comes our new friend-Nicholas (isn't his last name Cage?)

Like the subject above, today there's a new member joining in our class. With the countless expectation,we opened the package excitedly.During the procedure we unsealed it,our English teacher proclaimed the name of our new teddy ambassador,Nicholas! My intuition was that "wow, the same name as the movie star-Nicholas Cage."Anyway,I think it's a really cool, really characteristic name.A few seconds later, coming out was a lovely, pleasing teddy cubs. But the most surprising was that he carried "Sony Ericsson" with him.At once, there's no one can tell that's real or fake cacuse it's too lifelike.Besides,Nicholas also brought several sets of clothing(Yeah, traveling around Taiwan is pretty exhausting and of course Nicholas should prepare different clothes for the changing weather.)Whereas these deeds,we realize that Kaohsiung Commercial High School's students are very attentive and circumspect.
Now,Nicholas is our guest. How can we ill-treat him?So......Nicholas,pick up your Sony Ericsson ; call your big big family and tell them "I arrived in Taitung safely. That will must be the best journey in Taitung High School with Class 109!"

Rainy Day
Tim and Nick
The weather ruin our plan, but it brought us something "fresh".there were numbers of mushrooms on the grass today.I got one looking more complete and brought it to our classroom.Everyone looked at the mushroom and said it looked poisonous. Some of them even wanted to cut it into small pieces, and others wanted to tear it.

Duma in the art class

The Music Class Jeffrey, Evan.
Today is our turn: Jeffrey and Evan.
We would like to be honest that today's morning had our swimming PE class.
Avoiding DUMA from being wet(actually it's that we forget to bring DUMA to the swimming pool), we didn't take DUMA to the pool.
But don't be nervous, we chose the great topic: The Music Class.
In the class, we saw a movie about the musician, Mozart's life. He was excellent in not only playing musics but also writing musics. His talent made him be rich, but his enjoyment made him be poor. Although he was hard in creating operas for the royal to earn what he and his wife lived on, but the overmuch works made him come dawn at last.

We saw the last part in tje movie called "The Dying Mass". Mozart was got a mission to make a mass music for a strange man when he got a heavy sick. The melody was done and Mozart was died. We felt very touching after the movie ending.
We felt glad that DUMA can watch the movie with us, but we don't know whether DUMA understands what he saw. HA HA HA~~~

Our New Friend: Duma
With ecstasy, we hold a small─scale welcome reception. It is our pleasure to receive such a charming friend. Hence, we made a luxurious seat for him in order to correspond to his dignity. We also took him outside to feel the glittering and mild sunshine on the meadow of our campus, which we assumed the largest grassland all around the world . [To be honest, the weather in Taitung is extremely scorching that we were almost crazy.] Afterward, we took Duma to a room for storing our musical instruments to listen to the graceful music played by some of our classmates in NTSH wind music band. It was delightful for us to be together and share our joy .
In conclusion, we sincerely greet Duma. We hoped that Duma could feel at ease in NTSH and have jolly memories in our enthusiastic school . Duma, be our good friend !!
[We recommended that Duma could take part in our boxing game!]

The happy days 祐榕 shared with Ruth Yee
Apr. 25th, 2010
When I just came back from the cram school at night, I was so surprised to see Ruth Yee sit on the sofa in my home. She was watching TV with my mom. My mom said that Ruth just watched the opening ceremony of 全中運 with my classmates, and they sent her to my home after the ceremony.
She looked happy for the tours today, but she looked a little tired. I asked her “Well, so do you still want to go out to take a walk? Or do you want to take a rest?” She replied, “Oh! Thanks. I am a bit tired so I don’t want to go out now.”
So I stayed home with Ruth this night. I chatted with her for a long time. She talked about her life in Taipei and how she felt in Taitung. She told me Taitung is a beautiful place, and the sky is the most bluest that she has ever seen.
In the end, I played guitar and sang a song to her. She seemed to enjoy the melody of the song!
I took her to the guest room and let her go sleeping at 9 o’clock.
Wish you have a good night, Ruth! ^^
Apr. 26th,2010
Today I had a bike tour with Ruth.
The destination for Today’s tour is Basian Cave(八仙洞), the Tropic of Cancer(北回歸線) and the Eastern coast(東海岸).
The weather was fine today when we got started. It was a little cool and not humid at all. To Ruth's and my surprise, the sunlight was very soft. The wind let us feel very comfortable. All in all, today was the best day to ride the bike, enjoying all the beautiful scenery along the Eastern coast!
I let Ruth sit in my bag, and then I put her on on my bike. When she saw I did that, she was a bit amazed because she once thought that I would travel around by riding a wild boar(野山豬). She said, “It’s said that you students in Taitung rode wild boars as a means of transportation!”
“But it is not real. It's just an old joke about people in Taitung!” I said “Ha! Ha!”
With the speed of bike becoming faster and faster, I could hear the exciting shriek of Ruth. She seemed to love the coastal view along thge Pacific Ocean very much. So I had my photo taken with her near the beach.
After one hour, we arrived at Basian Cave. I told her the caves were formed millions of years ago dut to the sea erosion. And in ancient times, the caves were the home of ancient human beings. The culture of these human being called Changbin Culture(長濱文化). I took Ruth to see the caves. There are eleven caves totally. But I found that most of the caves were occupied as different temples. The guide said that the temples have been built in the caves for one-hundred years. It is difficult to force them to be moved away, but the government is trying to deal with the problem now. To find a clear cave for Ruth, I climbed almost all the climbing trail. Fortunately, I finally find a clear cave in the top of the mountain (Basian caves are in the seaside cliffs). We were so happy to find it!
On the top of the mountain, Ruth and I looked down forward the sea. We were touched by the majestic sight. She asked me “Are there still humans living in the caves?” “No," I replied, “But there are many monkeys living here.” I pointed to a nearby monkey staring at us, and laughing loudly.
At 3 o'clock, we arrived at the Tropic of Cancer. There were many tourists from Japan and China, and they were taking photos beside the Tropic of Cancer Marker. Some of them stood on the site of the Tropic of Cancer, with their arms spreading from north to south. They said that half of their body was in the tropic zone while the other was in the subtropical. It sounded interesting!!
A Japan Obasan (歐巴桑) saw Ruth and I, coming toward me immediately. She looked at Ruth for a while. Then, she said "Kawai!!" She seemed to like Ruth very much!!

Ruth Yee & her dear diary in Taitung Part 2
Dear Diary,
Today is a sultry day. It rained in the early morning, but the sun showed up at noon and the temperature kept going up. I felt very uncomfortable.
The new friend who took care of me is the only student living in the dorm. His name is 茂均,and he said I would stay in the dorm with him tonight. Some students here said those who lived in the dorm are very eccentric, and it made me a little bit frightened.
At 5:20 p.m., 茂均 took me to traverse the big playground of National Taitung Senior High, and we arrived at the mysterious dorm. The dorm is such a big building. To my surprise, the life in the dorm is not as "strange" as I thought. Actually, students here lived a very regular life because students in the dorm have to obey the command of the military instructors.
茂均's room is bright but dank. Besides, there were many mosquitoes. Each room can accommodate 4 students, and all of 茂均's roommates were very friendly. I thought I was oversensitive before I came to the dorm. It seemed not too bad. I wish I could have a good night in the dorm.
Ruth

Dear Diary,
Today is my turn to take care of Ruth. I took her to my place, the dorm of NTSH. Although the dorm of NTSH wasn't good enough, we had been accustomed to the life here. Most of the students in the dorm were kind to Ruth, and my roommates were especially curious about her. Sometimes they touched her hand and gave her a big hug. I believed they all loved her and I wish she could have a good dream.

Ruth & her new chemistry teacher--
(…much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)

The above was written by Ruth's chemistry teacher in Taitung--Mr. Luo. Here, Ruth's new classmates like to call him 勝吉弟兄 because he is a very pious Christian and always like to share with his students the wisdom he finds from the Bible. But for Class 109, 勝吉弟兄 is not just a chemistry teacher--he is also the husband of their homeroom teacher, Ms. Wu(姿瑩姊妹). Now, they are going to spend their honeymoon in Japan. Let's give them the best wishes and hope they would have a lot of fun!!

Ruth Yee & her dear diary in Taitung Part 1
Apr. 15th, 2010
Dear diary:
Today, with excitement and expectation, I got out from the crowded, small box. It was so comfortable to reach the fresh air and beautiful scenery in Taitung. Forty people coming into view, I was so frightened. Ah… uh…. I meant…pleased.

The student who took me out of the box was 潘霈. Then Mr. Sam, the professional English teacher of Class 109 in Taitung Senior High School, hugged me and said,
"She’s Ruth義, our new learning partner." "Thank you for your introducing, gentle man," I thought in my heart. "and you guys must treat them well!" "Yeah! Oooooh!" All the students shouted loudly as if they were people in the ancient age and haven’t seen such a beautiful teddy bear. "So, Teacher Sam, where are the gifts from TFG?" "Hey! Hey! Aren’t you guys excited because of me?" I almost cried in my heart.
After the welcome celebration, 俊儒(帥哥) and 祐榕(Keroro) took me to see around the campus and visit some of their teachers. I recognized that Taitung Senior High is not only a group beautiful buildings, but a good learning solution with great animation. All the teachers got so “high” after seeing my graceful appearance.
Finally, it was time for class again. 俊儒 and 祐榕took me to Class 105, another class which Teacher Sam teaches. From the reaction they saw me, I Knew they loved me, too.
After school, it was time for some interesting activities! 瑞智 took me to dinner with his friend from another class. I was actually not so hungry, so I only drank a cup of black tea. Seeing them talk about me and my hometown, I was kind of happy!
After dinner, we went to the McDonald’s. "It is not so special," I thought. As I was thinking that why they guys took me here, they gave me a textbook--English. Oh I almost forgot that I would have to take an English vocabulary quiz tomorrow. So I studied the book and had some coke. "These words are as easy as a piece of cake!" I thought. After all, I am from the best girl’s high school in Taiwan!
Time flies, I finished my first day in Taitung in happiness. And I would have to go to school tomorrow, so good night my diary!
p.s. Good luck for the quiz tomorrow!

Finally, Ruth Yee cam to Class 109
We have heard that the first ambassador from TFG arrived at our school. She is Wheaty; she looked adorable but she would stay with Class 105.
Anyway, we still welcomed her and took a picture with her.
However, what we really looked forward to is the one who will learn with us in the following weeks...
(April 15th)
Eventually, the guest--Ruth Yee--showed up in our class. We were very proud to say that she was as pretty as Wheaty! Besides, she also brought some pineapple cakes as her special gifts. We all had one, and we did love the snack!
After the memorable first meeting, we took a picture together to remember the moment. Some of our classmates took her around to visit different teachers.
Later, we will have more plans to do with her. Just wait and see!

A Trip with Lots of Fun and Friendship
Soon (to be exact, on April 6), we are going to start a new project--"Teddy Bear Project." Just like "Holiday Card Exchange Project," which we've got sooooo much fun in last semester, this brand new project will also be extremely interesting because there are three more partner schools going to join us. They are friends from Taipei First Girls High School (北一女中), Kaohsiung Vocational Technical High School (高雄高工), and Kaohsiung Vocational Commercial High School (高雄高商). We will send our ambassador--a teddy bear representing your class--to these partner schools. Likewise, we will have to guest the ambassadors from other schools. When they arrive in Taitung, maybe you guys can guide them around Taitung, make them a part of your school life, or even take them home to learn to be a good host. But, most important of all, I want you all to help our guests keep track of their happy days in Taitung. I will divide you all into groups, and make you take turns writing down journals either on your ambassador's diary or on this blog. This is a project we are going to do for the whole semester. Therefore, I wish you all could have a great time, make lots of progress in using English, and, by the way, earn a lot of wonderful friendship when interacting with your classmates from other schools.
Now, let's get prepared and start the journey!!
Best,
Sam
PS. Many thanks to teachers who devote themselves to this project:葉中如老師(from北一女),塗凱貽老師(from雄工),and林劭芃老師(from雄商).
PS.Last semester, Ms.塗 has led her class to do the same project with a school in Malaysia. If you are interested in what they have done, you can go to the following websites and take a look.
